Once upon a time, there was a young man named Caleb who noticed a young woman named Jamie after she joined their church cell group. Hoping to get to know her better, he waited patiently for the perfect opportunity to start a conversation.

That opportunity arrived on 19 November 2021. While Jamie was celebrating her mother's birthday, Caleb sent her a message about a reverse Secret Santa he was organising. To anyone else, it would have seemed like an ordinary exchange about gifts. But then again, the beginnings of great stories rarely announce themselves as such.

A few messages became a few more. Then a few more became daily conversations.

Even while Caleb was travelling through Spain, the messages continued to cross oceans and time zones. Neither of them could have known it then, but they were slowly becoming part of each other's everyday lives and before long, neither could imagine a day without the other.

And so, on 9 April 2022, Caleb asked Jamie to be his girlfriend. As though the day was not memorable enough already, it was also the very first day Jamie met his parents, a rather swift introduction to family life, but one that would prove to be only the beginning.

Jamie said yes.
